Freelancer Issues
---------------------

ALL TRIED, ALL TESTED AND ALL WORKS!!!

Sound Issues
--------------

Reason: MP3 Codec Problem

Solution:
1. Extract l3codeca.acm from the WMADIST.EXE or similar file on the Freelancer Disk, unser folder 'REDIST'.
2. Copy over (and replace) with the file in 'C:\Windows\System32' (and 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64' if the OS is 64 bit).
IF YOU CANNOT DELETE/OVERWRITE FILES THEN USE THE 'UNLOCKER' PROGRAM HERE: 'http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/'
3. Open up regedit and search for 'l3codec'. Replace all values that are 'l3codexc.acm' or 'l3codecp.acm' with 'l3codeca.acm'. There will probably be more than one place you find this.
4. Patch up the game and turn off 3d sound.
5. Job done!

Server Hosting/Joining Issues (LAN)
---------------------------------

Reason: Newer versions of windows use IPv6, which Freelancer doesn't support.

Solution:
Go to the properties of your network adapter and turn off Ipv6 by unckecking it.
2. Open up regedit and navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\'
3. Edit or create the key 'DisabledComponents'.
4. Enter a DWORD (32 Bit) value of 0xffffffff .
See 'http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852' for more info.
5. Reboot.

Global Server no longer works (WAN)
------------------------------------

Reason: Global server has shut down

Solution: use the 'Global Server List' mod from the FL Mod Manager 1.5beta

NOTE: If Discovery mod is installed this is not necessary.

Serving a game over the internet (cant join from other machines)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Reason: Most new routers block the necessary ports.

Solution: In your router config, allow traffic through ports 2302 - 2304 to the server machine.

If you do not see our server on the server list (running Discovery mod)

Add the following to freelancer.ini in the exe folder
hostname = gun.fllistserver.com ;www.fllistserver.com
To see our server on the global server list.

Discovery Freelancer Hud-Shift not working

If using the command line paramter "-dx" to set Freelancer to your desktop resolution, the following may be of interest (to get the HUD elements to properly align).

Hudshift seems to work just fine for me - just remember that you need to reapply the changes to dacom.ini after every update, as it may have been overwritten/changed by the update.

Here's a download link for Adoxa's Hudshift that I (temporarily) uploaded to my server, since it doesn't seem to be acquirable anywhere else online after Adoxa's server went down. Hopefully it'll be up again soon.

What you need to do is:

1. Add "hudshift.dll" to the list of DLLs (under [Libraries]) in dacom.ini, located in Freelancer install directory\EXE
2. Move hudshift.dll to Freelancer install directory\EXE
3. Move hudshift.ini to Freelancer install directory\DATA\INTERFACE
4. Open hudshift.ini. Find your monitor/window aspect ratio or resolution. It's at the top of the .ini.
5. Remove the semicolon - the ; - from where it says [;HUDSHIFT] for your resolution/aspect ratio
6. Save hudshift.ini. Launch Freelancer.

Example:
; Adjustments for 16:9 (1280x720, 1440x810, 1600x900, 1920x1080).
[;HUDShift]
Horizontal = 0.17

should be changed to

; Adjustments for 16:9 (1280x720, 1440x810, 1600x900, 1920x1080).
[HUDShift]
Horizontal = 0.17

Also ensure you copy the HudShift.ini to \Data\Interface and then it should all work as intended.
