I started this subject to get an idea for new things to add to the website. Feel free to comment on any issues, improvements or new features you would like to see.

For info, several new things already in the pipeline are:
-Searching on forums
-Password change page
-Smaug streaming webcam

Have forum threads sorted by most recent post, not topic start date (as appears to be the case currently), it means the active topics stay at the top. Have you thought about using phpBB?

Sounds like a good idea (sorting by most recent post). Will probably get that done tomorrow after work. Yeah the message center fiasco - see - thats how the americans have screwed up our language!

Well I got the webcam, but sreaming from the website may prove to be extremely tricky. As for the forum, it now orders subjects by last post (not subject post as it did before).

As you know, Smaug-Cam is up and running for registered users. Next improvements will likely be the forum, in terms of flagging subjects, avatars and possibly more.

Added some limited tagging, sticky subjects, editing existing posts and quoting to forums. It's definitely getting there now.

Can you sort the items within a topic by last posted date? I appear to have missed some replies etc on occasional forum topics because I hadn't noticed someone had posted a reply! Sorting by this would mean I would only need to look down the list from the top (providing it was in descending date order). If you could add a 'last logged in stamp' somewhere at top of screen it would also mean I would only need to look down as far as the time I last logged in!

only ideas - I'm just lazy to be honest...!

Looking at it, you may have already done this - your pinned posts appear to just mess it up mind! Perhaps separate out the pinned posts like you have with the general discussion and games in the main forum page.

Er, yeah it does already do this Andy. And pinned topics are pinned for that exact reason - to keep them at the top of the list. That is exactly how forums work

It does also show a green plus icon on subjects that have new posts since you last visit too.

Lastly, your last login date and time are shown on your personal page.

What about a sort of instant messenger thing. Either like private chat or a main board that everyone logged on can chuck stuff on.

That is a good idea Greg we shall have to wait to see what Gregory says but i like it i am sure he will.

I think he should bring back the thing that shows who is on the currently logged in to the website but this could be coupled with your idea of an instant messager thing.

The chatbox idea is a good one and I may very well start working on that. As for showing users logged in this was always shakey at best. I wont bore you with tech speak but it would be difficult and time consuming. I may see if I can do this again but it would be secondary to the chat board thingy.

But won't you need to have some sort of user online thing so the live chat box would work?

You have the admin to know the technical things but how will you chat with people online if you can't see who is?

If you are that sort of person of course and don't rely on some form of duck sonar to see people online bur?
