I noticed a bit on the site about freelancer ^.^
Have you ever tried the game EV nova? It's 2D, but is a good space combat/trading sort of game (single player only tho). it's pretty cool.
I'm still waiting to see a game that captures Elite, the x series was good, but never really grasped me in the way that elite did.

Yes I love Freelancer - amazing how such an old game that is so enjoyable. We play using the 'Discovery' mod - which has a ton of new stuff that it adds to the game.

No, never tried EV Nova, never even heard of it but if it is anything like Freelancer then I would probably like it. 'X' I found to have an extremely steep learning curve and the game begins being very difficult too, so I gave up on it in the end (plus no multiplayer).

And Elite - well, the name says it all - as you say, nothing has quite come close to capturing it yet. Freelancer I enjoy because it is a lot more layed back than games like say, Eve Online.

Ah Freelancer such a brilliant game we have logged some hours on that haven't we!

The Discovery mod is really good and makes an already good game great just hope they bring out Discovery 4.86 soon.

But i have a feeling i won't be playing the old Freelancer for a while i just have so many new games to play at the moment BF3, Skyrim and TOR and the new Assasins Creed are out soon.

So many games and not enough time

Tell me about it, got 3 games on the go at the moment, Skyrim, Just Cause 2 and another play through Morrowind.

ToR is just going to hold up my gaming backlog even further!
