So, a situation update:
The farm is getting larger which should help with our food problems. I spent an hour simply building additional plots and planting stuff there. I also added a second food processor, in the hopes that:
- The original (old) food processor can be used for bits and bobs like plots, nutrients, sprouts etc.
- The new one (with the big "F" above it) is used to heap perishable ingredients in to process before sticking in the fridge.
My reasoning for this was that is makes grabbing all the perishable food from one place to the other easier (you will only leave the water in the new food processor). To further this idea, now, the fridge on the right is ONLY for ingredients and the fridge on the left (with the "F") is ONLY for completed/cooked/usable food items.
Should help with organising and making food anyway.
Secondly, my new dropship is done and spawned - which can be used for ferrying people around easily (would have been perfect for our little abadond mine expedition last night). It is also armed heavily and has two cockpits (not sure if they are both usable at the same time yet, mind).
So we are really after some warp fuel - which we now know how to make, then simply gather up some supplies (food, water, oxygen) for out jump - which we should all do together so no-one is left behind.
Further to the above, I saw this interesting design on the workshop, which got inspiration from the Star Wars ships, where you leave a
warp drive docking ring in orbit. When you want to jump to another system, you can dock smaller ships to it and warp, then simply undock the other end - thought it was genius and maybe worth looking into.
The reason for the warp docking ring is obvious, but we may also want to set about modding the capital vessel so it can "hold" a few of our ships to take with us on the jump.
Oh, one last thing: apparently the "playfields" pause after 30 mins of no-one being there, so in effect, we don't have an energy problem when we are offline.
