What on earth do we play now?

As the title suggests - I am struggling to find what game to play now!

With the disappointments of TOR, Diablo 3 and now Colonial Marines it is looking very bleak. Even Farcry 3 wasn't all I had hoped it would be. The only game coming out that I am interested in is the new Batman game (due some point this year I have heard). Other than that I can only see myself going back to NWN 2 for a bit or maybe picking up the first Batman game (Arkham Asylum) and giving that a go. Failing that there is always the Borderlands 2 DLC's to try - but I am not paying £10 a pop for them!

I think if the last 2 years has taught me anything it is that I will only ever pre-order a game (especially the 'limited' or 'collectors' editions) if I am certain they will be good.

So what to play now...???

Yes what to play now?

To be honest i have no idea i was hoping Aliens would keep me occupied for a while not 10 hours.

I haven't finished my game on Empire so will finish that then maybe KOTOR 1 and 2. Maybe i will have to play Dragon Age again. I might have a look at the last Assassins Creed games should be cheaper now.

I need to scan the upcoming releases to see what is coming out when was Star citizen again just checked and they are over $8 million!

But yes i will think before pre-ordering again.

Yeah Star Citezen is not until the end of next year (at the earliest) so we have a long time to wait for that. Does look bloody amazing though. LOL I checked yesterday too :-) I hadn't thought of the Assassin's Creed games - that's not a bad idea. So for me I could try and pick up Batman and Assassin's Creed III on the cheap.

I am not sure what else is coming out this year though. I can't remember anything significant that I wanted other then the new Batman game.

You defo. have to play the KOTOR's - that will keep you occupied for a while. I am not going to touch the Aliens DLC's unless they make significant improvements to the game - what about you?

Pre-ordering: It's sad that all the main-stream releases that were meant to be great ended up being so bad! Makes you wonder just what is happening with gaming recently. I still have high hopes for Batman though - the last one was beyond awesome and if they screw up the next one I think I will cry :-(

£2.95!! Jeez that's good! Can't complain at a game that costs the same as a pint :-) I may have a look on Steam and see what's available too.

Incidently, there is one other game coming out this year that is worth a look (for me at least). The new Neverwinter game. It's quite different to the first two, but does have the advantage of being free to play - so worth checking out at least. I have just signed up for beta (although I think I am a bit late as they have already started).

I'm back in EVE Online after a brief trip to Guild Wars II. Nothing beats blowing up someone's internet spaceship and making them really mad.

Do EVE have a free to play option by any chance?

Had a quick look at that but couldn't find any information on what the game is actually like to play.

So, what's it all about Greg? I gathered that it's something to do with building your own spaceship. But how does it play? Does it play like Garry's Mod?

You basically slap together you own space craft or aircraft from the bits you are given. Its sandbox stuff really so you just do what you like. You can land on the moon, mars or any of the planets in the solar system. You can set up systems where you build and launch space stations for fuelling, then launch an expedition to a planet and land a rover or sum such. You also end up killing lots of the 'Kerbal' astronauts and also stranding them in space or on other planets so you can mount over the top rescue missions.
The demo is a free download and gives a flavour of the game, also it is fairly cheap to buy as its still in development.

Sounds interesting - I take it you have the full game? I may give it a download and see what it's like. It is multiplayer I take it?

I do have the full game but I can't play it at the moment as my ancient laptop chugs like a be-atch running it. There is a multiplayer mod but the basic mechanic does not lend itself well to that mode of play.

Yeah, I checked it out today. You can play a 14 day trial, but after that you have to sub. Shame, as I would have looked at this otherwise. I am not gonna be getting into any subscription games again anytime soon I think.

I think on of the guys at work has a load of time spare on EVE, I will ask him on Wednesday if he wants rid of it.

In the meantime Kerbal it up; if nothing else it will kill and afternoon!

I uploaded a video of my initial attempts at making a spaceship in Kerbal Space Program. Clicky me for a voyage into the final frontier. By final frontier I mean repeatedly killing my astronauts and exploding/crashing a lot.

We could play online on Star Wars Battlefront II or Republic Commando if anyonw has those. Just a thought (not suggesting you spend money).

I downloaded the demo last night and will have a play when i get a minute i think it could be very funny when mixed with beerage?

So is it multiplayer or lannage compatable?

I don't think so.

Glad you like the video. I tried another few times afterwards and actually managed to get in a stable orbit around Earth (I recorded these just haven't made a vid yet). Then my fuel ran out again. My final attempt of the night involved strapping 10 massive explosive fuel canisters to the side. I think you can imagine where that ended :-)

It's quite a cool little game, I had some fun with it. It would be a really good game if it was multiplayer. Not sure if I would go out and buy it as it currently is though.
