I started reinforcing the walls by replacing the wood with stone but that will take a while. Still Rome wasn’t patched in a day as they say.

Indeedily do. Apparently, this new Alpha 6 patch that we may get soon makes it harder in several ways to:

- Certain crafting (tools, things with metal etc.) require a forge, and time to build.
- Containers and zombies contain less loot.

Why not? The crafting is really easy at the moment. I don't see that being a negative, it will simply make the crafting process a little more involved.

Plus, what with our mine where zombies can't touch us, I am all for making it harder.

Probably about 10 seconds (without any form of shelter).

With regards to the map being "off" since the last update: apparently Alpha 5 worlds do work with Alpha 6 worlds, but are buggy and they recommend starting from scratch. Apparently you will also not get to see the expanded world map until you do this too.

Are the joy of alphas i had to keep restarting the campaign on Rome as with every update you had to start again or most of the updates wouldn't work twas gay

Can you save our progress so far?

We had better start again then i suppose as we want the updates to work

Yes, to be expected, really. Is that the consensus then - to start from scratch? ...Greg, what's your thoughts?

Not fussed Greg. I suppose it is the mature of the beast that we would have to scrap it at some point until a final release.

The thing I am worried about, is when they release the update that smoothes-out terrain, you can bet we will need another restart.

Maybe, since it's still perfectly playable, we continue as-is for now. When the smooth-terrain update comes along, we reset it then?

Okay, I will not reset yet then.

On a similar vein, I propose we mine out a crafting room in our mine, loaded with forges for different metal types, maybe have a row of each type of metal, so we can "go industrious".

I managed to get some more done on our base(s) in this last night.

Firstly, I put another row of stone around the house-base (didn't quite finish this). I also went into the trench and replaced all the frelled-up spikes. I added a row of 4 forges near the other 2 that were previously there (since only one for each metal type was quite slow) and smelt a shit load of iron and lead. You will probably find some lead and iron ingots done on the forge, since I logged off whilst they were still going. I made about 100 shotgun shells for the general populace to use and stuck them in the storage boxes.

Secondly, I continued tunneling north and pretty much made it all the way to the "snow zone". It's a massive long tunnel that will make traversing the area to get there easier. Didn't get much time to explore the snow area since it took ages to do everything else. I managed to pretty much fill an entire storage box full of stacks of stone, so we are not short on that either.

At the entrance/exit I made a column with torches so you can find it when you are on your way back and put in some iron doors for security.

I did make quite a few pickaxes, intended for sharing in the storage boxes, but ended up using most of them on my tunneling project. :-)

Phew. I think that's it.
