Hi Jimbo.

I have a forum account at Steam. SeeJay there as well. I don't log in to steam
when I play games tho. Guess that's Another kind of account.

I do use TeamSpeak 3 some times but only when my wife is away.
She sleeps next door and Wakes up very easy so I can't normally talk (read scream)
when I play ;-)

I'll try Mumble when she is away next time. In a few weeks she will be going to the
states for a week and I'll try it then.

Based on everyone’s recommendations I removed the MK10 engine and put of the MK1 engine and as promised it made absolutely no difference to the ship. It’s a bit of a shame that this feature is basically redundant.

Would it not be better if the engines changed the acceleration of the ship? Having huge engines eating fuel would be OK by me if I could change direction quickly and catch up to the AI ships when they run away at warp speed.

Yes a shame it doesn't work like that. Engine upgrades are next to useless.

Before the IDS multiplier the engine class was very important.
Now it's not :-(

It’s a shame, it seems like it could be a good tool to add an extra dynamic to combat.

A friend of mine (MapMan in the other forum) is working on a new Evometrics version.

Suggestions

Check it out and feel free to add your ideas to include. (X-Mas is early ;-))

The map is now in 3D and you can pan and zoom in anywhere. Even rotate the map
is possible. It's early on so the Graphics will be added later.

If you want any functions added, please post here and I'll forward them or just post
in the other forum.

He lives nearby so we will take a few beers and work out a cool gadget.

That sounds cool,  but I never managed to get it working properly with my game. I am betting it has something to do with the fact that it is a Steam version. But neither the Steam "copy" nor the one in the other folder seem to work... regardless of the folder I select. I must be doing something wrong.

Probably. You need to set the path correct and make sure you have the
correct files in you game folder. Check this thread:
Evometrics

Or the manual here: Evometrics manual

Made it to Andromeda last night. Blimey, getting through the wormholes at the center of black holes is a tricky thing indeed. Took me a while to figure it out but got there eventually.

I see. So when you get there, what do you do if there are no bases?

To be honest, of all the "secret" systems I have visited so far, Andromeda is the least interesting. There are a few little treasures there - including a cargo box that seems to give you infinite amounts of Fusion Units (handy - for building the kick-ass weapons!) and a weird little device that teleports you to Rygel. There is also a hidden planet that does not even show on your map. I had a quick fly around it but other than some cargo, I could find little else of interest there.

The Sol System and Riftspace seem to be much more viable - as Sol has bases and includes our entire Solar System to explore. I built a few bases here too and walked on Mars with a Terrain Walker. :-)

Riftspace is very handy - as it seems to have wormholes to pretty much everywhere in the galaxy. I haven't explored too much of this yet - but one of them leads to the Vonari home system too.

I myself, find it fun to explore these secrets anyway - regardless of "what you can do" when you find them.

Something like that, yes.

So have you given up on Evochron already? Not seen you on in a while. Or is GTA 5 too good?

No still enjoying it, I have just been suffering from unexplained fatigue this week so haven’t really had the inclination to get any of the games machines.
