Does anyone know if the hit box increases with ship size? I made my engine massive and I am wondering if this is presenting a larger target for the smelly red chaps.

I might need a cheesy next time we are playing. I keep getting weapon system officers to aid my blob of a craft in wombat but every time I dock they duck off. So my plan is:

- Change my deodorant.

- Remove the dead hooker from the cockpit.

- Get you guys to buy me fuel and transfer it to me in spaceand and I transfer money back to you. This was I don’t have to dock and they can’t bail unless they wish to die.

- Pay your crew well might prevent bailing your ship.
- If you fail a contract they might bail out when docking.

A way around all this is to do contracts from a carrier until they are at 100% loyal.
They can't leave your ship when you dock at a carrier! ;-)

Top tip! I can do that in the Tallison WZ.With regards to pay, I find myself in the Ebenezer Scrooge style of management.

- Pay rock bottom wages.

- Insist my crew work through Christmas for no additional pay.

- Demand the crew wear leather chaps.

- Only put Badgers Arse toilet paper

Engineer - Improves subsystems and hull repair time. (Requires repair system)
Navigator - Provides safe jump points and increases sensor performance.
Weapons Ops - Improves primary weapons capabilities.
Science Ops - Indicates points of interest, even when not charted. Also improves mining.

In military ships (where you can't hire a crew) a computer is taking care of ship/weapons
improvement instead.

When I fly a civ ship I normally hire a Engineer, and Weapons Ops. If I'm exploring I also
hire a Science Ops.

Navigator - Provides safe jump points and increases sensor performance.
What exactly do you mean by provides safe jump point? Does it prevent you jumping into the middle of planets/stations etc?

Yes, he prevents that you hit planets when you are jumping. I never use him so I can't confirm
if he's any useful.

I think that if you plot a jump right on a planet, you will crash, but if you plot a course
far away and use autopilot, he will make sure that you don't hit any planets on the way.
At least that's how I think it works.

What's your opinion on engines for Civ ships?

In my limited experience I have found upgrading them to be a waste, as they don't seem to provide any noticable benefits other than a higher top speed (when using IDS)?

Engine upgrades are not important since you have the IDS multiplier.
Early on we didn't have that so the engine class was important at that stage.

Focus on wing and shields instead.

I'm happy to anounce that Vice has added the
feature of Alt +key to go from -5 to +5 instantly
with the energy between shields/weapons now and
it's beeing beta tested now. Is he the best or what?

He is beyond awesome... I only just mentioned it on the official forums and he is implementing my suggestion already! I am truly impressed with the community for this game and the helpfulness of its developer - Vice. He is a star.

FYI: when u left, maximus, Vice - the developer logged on. He is a diamond guy and helped me out. .. shame you missed it.

There really is a superb community for this game. I have never seen anything like this before. Plus it is a great game to boot!
