Here are my chattext.dat and hudtext.dat values that you can start with:
Normal screen and Salmon player chat text. (All else is white)
hudtext will put player position in the hud and also cargo bays contents.

Out of curiosity, is there a particular server you play on? While I am waiting for Virgin to pull their finger out I was going to try some others out.

No specific server. Normally where I can find people online (right click server name to check).
Usually that is the CAV server.

Just thought of another one. Is reputation a global thing or done on a sector by sector basis i.e. I piss of the Navy in Pearl, do they then plunder me as I jump through other sectors?

The reputation is system by system.

If you piss off the Navy in Pearl, they are pissed in all sectors belonging to Pearl.
No effect in other systems until you piss them off as well.

They don't like me anywhere

Ohhh Yes. I follow the progress whenever I hear something. I haven't pledged tho.
I don't want to pay anything until I've tried it. How the space flight system works are very
important to me. I want a simulator, not an airplane in space.

If I like the demo whenever it's out, I'll try it and buy the game right away if I like it.

Looks amazing tho.

Yes, I really hope it ends up as good as it looks to be. I am in the same mind as you though - don't preorder any games anymore after the TOR, Diablo 3 and A:CM debacle.

Jim's tip of the day: don't use a Shield Re-charger with a Stealth Generator.

The Stealth Generator eats away at your shields, then the shield re-charger uses mains to attempt to restore it... leaving you with nothing of either.

Another tip is to use the Stealth "Missile" instead. You can carry up to 8 in your missile
hard points. Each gives you a 60sec stealth window. The upside of using this one
is that when you leave stealth, your weapons are fully operational. (Doesn't drain your
energy).

You install a Build Constructor to your Equipment slots (1). (Found at many stations)!

To build one:
- Click "Build" in the top right of your hud.
- Hover mouse over "Name" while you tape the station name. (Don't click "Build" until done typing.
- Click on "Build"
Now you must sit tight in 2 min for the building. You can rotate but not use your thrusters.
A tip is to deploy a shield array around you when building, or have a mate defend you.
If you want it to be a clan station. Name it with your tag as well: [PK] name
You also get a license on all stations you build for free.

The benefit is a discount of 25% when buying stuff. (Also if you sell here).

For clans the benefit is that it decreases the control % drop when no clan member is
online. 15 stations / system will give you min decrease loss. No need to build more for that.
When at least one clan member is online, the drop is freezed.

Stations to build are:
- Trade Stations.
- Constructor stations (Can be build in the same sector as a Trade Station)
- Research Stations. (Can be build in the same sector as a Trade Station)
- Energy Stations. (Can be build in the same sector as a Trade Station)
- Ore Processors. (Can be build in the same sector as a Trade Station)

I normally build like this in a sector:
   C
R T E
   O

There is a few rules for where you can build.
- There has to be at least 1 empty (no trade station) sector between any Trade Stations
in all directions.
- You have to build within +/- 50000 of the center of the sector. A sector is +/- 100000.
- You have to be at the same location during the build countdown.

----------------------------------------
Deploy Constructor is installed in the same way and you have a menu beside the Build
button in the hud.

This question may be a bit much, so I don't really expect an answer, but I will ask anyway:

I noticed in some of the guides, someone called "Marvin" did some charts on wing enhancements vs ship agility - giving you the effective turn rate of ships. I don't suppose you happen to know the formula used to calculate turn rate?

E.g.
Agility = 100, Wing = 13 = XXX turn rate
Agility = 50, Wing = 1 = XXX turn rate
...etc...

I ask because I would really like to get this data into my spreadsheet, for ship comparisons. Being as I am totally awful at maths, I am unable to work it out myself
