Hello everyone.

Just wanted to introduce myself in this forum since I've played Evochron Mercenary for years
and have thousands of hours into it.

If you need any help, just ask and I'll do what I can to answer it.

In the mean time you might find my websites useful: (Spoiler warning)
evochron.junholt.se (Old site, don't update anymore)
evochron2.junholt.se (New site)
mercenary.junholt.se (online map. There is M-GPS, Evometrics, as a download version also)
junholt.se/evoschool/index.htm (Hints with no spoilers)

See ya out there! ;-)

Hi SeeJay and welcome!

Thank-you for the links. I have already used some of the superb information up there, and no doubt, will continue to do so.

So do you still play often?

I know we are planning a trip to the Sol system soon once we have good enough ships... :-)

Thanks Jimbo.

Not as much as I used to, but I do hop on every now and then to say hi and see if anyone
wants to kill me LOL! (There is a standing reward of 100mil to anyone, or team, that kills me)

No warnings needed to attack me. Makes me stay on my toes LOL!

I tried your server last night but got kicked after 10min. (I've seen the problems you have
in the other forum).

Enjoy the Sol trip and bring a station builder and a good enough fuel tank .... or use the WH!

Hi SeeJay,What he said, cheers for the links.

I think most of the information I have about the game came from you one way or the other.

By the way, sorry of some of the conversations on the site seem a little……..abstract. Also the fact everyone calls everyone Greg can be a little disorientating.

Yes it seems Virgin are messing me around at the moment, so the server does indeed seem to periodically drop players at the moment. I hope to get this fixed soon.

When I do I will ensure I post on the official forums to let people know it's good to go.

LOL, not to worry!

Hi ALL Gregs then ;-)

You are all most welcome for any info available on my sites. May I suggest that you try out
my quest available from this site: evochron2.junholt.se
It's called "Over the Hill" and will take you all over the place and pay you as well.
The original, tweaked, IMG Quest is included as well. Hints to how to win a race etc is
also in there. More than 200 pages of a SciFi story taking place in EM goes along with it.

If you guys are thinking about starting a clan, I think that the letters for it is limited to
max 4. [XXXX]

Keep your questions coming ;-)

All (I think) WH's and BH's are available on my online map. (They are not displayed on the
in game map)

If you want hints but not publicly described here in the forum, please let me know so I don't
spoil anything to others. You can always email me if you want: evochron@junholt.se

Fixed your link for you SeeJay.

Hint: Ensure you put the http:// in front of your addresses, or else the link ends up extended from www.jimbobslimbob.com.

Also, we do have a PM system on the website for that kind of thing if you want to use it. Find it under "message center".

SeeJay, I have a fairly basic question. What exactly is the point of the walker robot things?

The main reason is to provide a fun tool to explore planets with. You can also only do
some of the contracts on planets using those. Fighting in them is also very fun. You can
even fight ships with it. In the future, Vice (the creator), will most likelly add more stuff
to do for them. Building settlements, defences, caves to explore (like the asteroid caves).

When we beta tested them we were like 10 TW's fighting in a city. That was a blast LOL!

Just thought of another question, do you run any mods for the game? If so does it affect online play should other players have different mods installed?

I use a few mods.
HUD mods to display ship position and also chat mod to change
the color for player typed messages (Salmon).
Some mods I created myself to improve the compass and pitch ladder.

I also use a mod for Nebulas.

Most players use mods and I have never heard of any problems regarding MP.
Only problems I've heard about is when you are low on memory, mods can make the
game crash since there isn't enough memory for it to load up game stuff.

My best tip for that is to install one mod at a time and test the game in between.

Excellent! Thanks for all this info. Is there a mod that moves the chatbox to the edge of the screen? I cannot seem to move it and it gets irritating.

Shouldn't be any problems.

If you don't have any chattext.dat file in your hud folder, create one with the
following values: (Disregard the text, only enter values for each parameter on each line)

chattext.dat =
1st value sets the red color (0-255, default 200)
2nd value sets the green color (0-255, default 200)
3rd value sets the blue color (0-255, default 200)
4th value sets the X pixel offset (usually leave at 20)
5th value sets the Y pixel offset (usually leave at 50)
6th value sets the X position (ie -7.5 for widescreen displays)
7th value sets the Y position (usually leave at 0)
